Are you ready to pursue an education that will inspire you with the knowledge and skills to care for patients as a registered nurse, or advance your health care career as a nursing leader, change agent and advocate? If the answer is “yes”, the Ellmer School of Nursing is ready to be your partner!
We have been training nurses since 1967, making our mark in nursing education in Virginia and nationally. As school of nursing accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) we offer a full spectrum of nursing programs, beginning with the Bachelor of Science degree (training for RN licensure or RN completion of bachelor’s degree), advancing to the Master of Science degree (with five specializations), and extending to the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree (with four specializations).
Our award-winning curriculums have been recognized three times by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing for innovations in professional nursing education by a public university. Our team of nationally-recognized and dedicated faculty provide practical and meaningful learning experiences for our students. As a student with the Ellmer School of Nursing your hands-on learning experiences will occur in our specialized on-site clinical lab and simulation rooms and at local health care sites—all supervised by faculty. Our goal is to thoroughly prepare you clinically and academically for work in nursing and for successful passing of board and certification exams.
As one of five schools/colleges making up the Macon and Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University, our future is rich with opportunities for interprofessional collaboration with the Eastern Virginia Medical School, the School of Public Health, EVMS School of Health Professions and the College of Health Sciences. You are invited to discover more about the education programs offered by the Ellmer School of Nursing by exploring our web page.
